Experiences at Bolton Abbey

Guests at The Hall have exclusive access to the estate team for tailor-made experiences on the estate.

The River Wharfe

Our Riverkeeper accompanies guests on private fly fishing sessions along a five mile stretch of the River Wharfe. He also guides bird- and wildlife-watching expeditions, often spotting osprey, cormorants, herons, and occasionally otters and their pups.

The Duke’s Walled Garden

Our Head Gardener is on hand to walk guests through the private walled garden, the rejuvenation of which has been his personal project over several years. The garden features maze-like topiary dividing beds for cut flowers, vegetables and fruit trees.

The Moorland

Our Head Gamekeeper is an expert conservator, who brings innovation to traditional methods of land management. Guests are invited onto the moor to observe endangered curlew chicks, and participate in the twice annual bird count.

Dining experiences

Our award-winning chefs work closely with the gardener to grow the freshest fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. Guests are welcome to join forays to the kitchen garden, or to add a helping hand as they prepare the estate’s jams and freshly-caught trout and game.
